Does anyone know if these are really her recordings? Some of them seem to be (the lo-fi ones). But most of the others seem like they are stolen to me. I am not trying to be a dick in any way, I just think it's kind of weird if they aren't her stuff. Please check these out and let me know what you think profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=180066013and this one www.myspace.com/mareanahI've only see her play once and it was a weird Japanese? instrument and it didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. Again, I am not trying to be negative or a jerk, I am just a little confused.

Perhaps she just had bad stage fright?
No, I would assume that I saw her at the same show that you did, and it sounded nothing like this. Everyone was terribly confused.

Marina is one of the most talented musicians in the city. She doesnt have to mesh her sound into a specific genre and she plays pretty much everything imaginable. Yes sirs, these are really her. She may have just wanted to play that particular instrument that night. In her defense, she doesnt really "play" every instrument that she uses, she just tends to take a more experimental approach.

Where does she record all of these songs at? The drums are recorded super well, as well as the other instruments, the mixing is superb also. Does she do all of this or does she record somewhere?

I think she does some and Brian Day does some of the others.

Man, I really dont know. The more I listen the more things I notice that make it seem less and less likely. I feel like each of the songs that are different have the exact recording style of that song. So either she is like, amazing at every instrument, amazing at recording, amazing at mixing, or she is lying.
Actually, I am almost positive these aren't her recordings. But I will wait and watch her live a few times before I make a final judgement.
Man, I wish she had a youtube account or something.

I beleive she recorded at ARC with Flowers Forever and then laid down some of her own stuff with Ian Aeillo. She plays everything herself on the recordings, ofcourse her with one instrument live isn't going to compare.
Just becuase you tripped over some actual talent in this town doesn't mean it's in some way a sham.

I can personally attest to the fact that she is a total sham. However, I love the anonymity of the internet....therefore my identity will remain a secret. But, she is completely incapable of doing any of this stuff.

My sources are also telling me that she is a sham. Although I will say that I would LOVE to see that information proven false.

Yeah, I would fucking love it if these were really her recordings. At first I was super excited, but then I kind of realized that they weren't hers.
I hope I am wrong.

At least one of her songs was stolen. Someone went out of their way to let me know on myspace that he stumbled across her music and it was actually an obscure band he used to play in from Chicago. He sent me an Amazon.com link and sure enough it was the same recording.

The one time I saw her play live she played (I believe) a dulcimer. She had headphones on and she played exactly 20 minutes (she kept looking at her watch) of random notes.
I've also heard credible stories that would question the legitimacy of her abilities, but that show when I saw her was one of the most entertaining things I've seen in a while. The audience was flabbergasted.
