Middle of the Map Fest is a new festival that aims to bring world class entertainment to Kansas City. The festival will showcase 25 - 30 emerging, local and national bands. It will be held in April 8th and 9th 2011 in a few select venues across the Midtown Area of Kansas City, Missouri. The festival is brought to you by Ink Magazine and The Record Machine. Ink magazine and inkkc.com are Kansas City’s premier lifestyle and entertainment publication and website. Owned by The Kansas City Star, it is one of Kansas City's largest publications and the only one produced by and for people in their 20s and 30s. Ink supports local music by publishing music reviews and hundreds of music listings each week. The Record Machine is an independent record company based in Kansas City and has been in business since 2003. They have been creating a community of emerging musical acts from places near and far. Tim Finn of The Kansas City Star remarked about The Record Machine’s output “[They] have assembled a stable of diverse artists who are making music that deserves national attention.” The goal of this festival is to promote Kansas City culture and put it to the test against national and emerging culture.
