I represent Olympic/Paralympic Medalist Cheri Becerra-Madsen. Cheri has received national honors for setting world records in wheel chair racing, taking home multiple Olympic and Paralympic medals and being the first Native American women to compete in the Olympic games.
We will be holding a Benefit Battle of the Bands to support her run at the 2016 Paralympic games, held in conjunction with the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, at Knickerbockers in Lincoln, Neb., on May 11. Cheri will be present at the show and will speak at the opening. Trophies will be awarded for "Best Band Support" and for "Cheri's Choice." The "Best Band Support" trophy will be awarded to the band whose donation jar has earned the most donations at the end of the night.
We are currently looking for bands to play at this show, which is expected to gain much media attention. While show proceeds go to support Cheri’s financial obligations in travel and entry fees, participating bands are encouraged to set up merchandise tables to offset any costs associated.
